MAINTENANCE Unplug the appliance before carrying out any maintenance operation. Defrosting During normal operation, the evaporator in the refrigerator compartment will gradually become covered with frost. This frost is a thermal insulator which inhibits cooling and must therefore be removed, otherwise there will be a significant reduction in cooling efficiency and an increase in electricity consumption. Press the button in the middle of the thermostat knob, making sure that the button is firmly inserted. Once defrosted, the refrigerator will start up again automatically but the water which has collected in the tray placed under the evaporator must be removed.
