WARNINGS - PRECAUTIONS GENERAL ADVICE Before starting the engine, read this manual thoroughly paying special attention to section "SAFE RIDING". Your and other people's safety largely depends on your reflexes and agility, but there are other key factors, such as your knowledge of the vehicle's operation and condition, as well as of the basic rules of "SAFE RIDING". Engage the parking brake and do not open the throttle until before moving off. 30 use and maintenance Quasar 50 - 100 - 125 - 180 2 1 STARTING THE ENGINE FROM COLD If ambient temperature is low (close to or below 0°C), you may have trouble starting the engine at the first attempt. If so: Rotate the choke lever (3) leftwards. Hold down the starter button (1) for at least ten seconds and press the throttle slightly. 3 If the mixer oil reserve light ( ) stays on after the engine is running or comes on during normal engine operation, it means that engine oil pressure in the circuit is low. In this case, immediately stop the engine and top up. STARTING WITH FLOODED ENGINE If the starting is not carried out properly or if there is too much fuel in the intake ducts the engine may get flooded. To clean a flooded engine: Rotate the choke lever (3) leftwards. Press the starter button (1) for a few seconds (letting the engine crank) with the throttle fully pressed. If the engine starts: Release of the throttle. Rotate the choke lever (3) rightwards. If idle speed is erratic, press the throttle moderately several times. If the engine fails to start Wait a few seconds and repeat the starting procedure. STARTING AFTER A LONG PERIOD OF INACTIVITY If the vehicle has been left unridden for a long time, crank the engine with the starter motor for about ten seconds, do not accelerate, in order to ensure the filling of the float chamber. To start the engine, slightly accelerate and carry out the starting procedure. CAUTION Never move off abruptly with a cold engine. To reduce emissions and fuel consumption, ride slowly until covering several miles to warm the engine up to operating temperature.
