NSA-220 User's Guide 87 Chapter 9 Users 88 NSA-220 User's Guide CHAPTER This chapter introduces the Shares screens of the NSA. 10 Shares 10. 1 Shares Introduction Use the Shares screens to create and manage shares. A share is a set of user access permissions mapped to a specific folder on a volume. It is equivalent to the Windows concept of a shared folder, but is independent of the folder. You can map a share to a network drive for easy and familiar file transfer for Windows users. 10. 1. 1 Share Icons These are the share icons. Table 31 Share Icons ICON DESCRIPTION This represents a share on a volume on the internal hard drives. Click this icon to access the share's contents. The folder appears as gray if the share is not currently available (because the hard drive was removed for example). This represents a share on a volume on an external (USB) device. Click this icon to access the share's contents. The folder appears as gray if the share is not currently available (because the USB drive was removed for example). 10. 1. 2 Shares Screen Click Shares in the Navigation panel to open the following screen. Table 32 Shares LABEL Create a New Share External Shares Share Owner Share Type DESCRIPTION Click this button to add a share. These are shares on the external (USB) devices. This is the name of the user account to which this share belongs. This field displays built-in for system shares. You cannot delete these shares (these are the public and admin shares). This field displays pre-defined for default shares. You can delete these shares (these are the video, music, and photo shares). This field displays user-created for shares that an administrator has created. Click this to remove the selected share.
