Benefits/Advantages To Customer
Reliable, long-term performance: Continuous contact between mated surfaces provides a strong seal that resists impact and accidental dislodging. 3MTM VHBTM Tapes help protect against environmental conditions and compensate for thermal expansion between bonded surfaces. Easy installation: One-step bonding and sealing helps save time. [. . . ] Dual Lock fasteners can be opened and closed hundreds of times. · Plasticizer and moisture resistant · UV resistant · Solvent resistant · Excellent tensile strength · Reclosable · Adhesive-backed formulations for bonds--20ºF(-29ºC) to 200ºF(93ºC). · Can join many different surfaces · Can be used on many rigid or flexible surfaces · Available in black or clear · Rigid, thick plain backing available · Helps simplify design of component parts
Flexible foam carriers fill gaps and help bond irregular surfaces. In bonding rough or irregular surfaces, 3MTM Double Coated Foam Tapes fill gaps and distribute stress uniformly over the bonded area. Depending on the specific tape, the result is a bond line that seals, cushions and dampens vibration; resists impact; withstands a wide temperature range; and provides good insulating qualities. To meet your requirements, you can select from rubber or acrylic adhesive, and a choice of different foam carriers: urethane, vinyl, elastomeric, polyethylene, or neoprene. These tapes can be applied by hand or with one of 3M's tape dispensing systems.
3MTM VHBTM Tapes can replace rivets, screws, and other mechanical fastening devices. High-strength VHB tapes are used throughout industry to replace mechanical fastening for permanent assembly in many applications. To help meet your assembly and production requirements, consider 3MTM VHB Adhesive Transfer Tape or 3MTM VHB Double Coated Acrylic Foam Tape. With transfer tape, a thin dry strip of permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive is transferred from a liner to the surface to be bonded, ready to use. The foam carrier of VHB foam tapes help provide higher strength, handling convenience, cushioning, and damping and impact resistance. "VHB+" foam tapes bond a wider range of materials. More conformable foam helps improve void filling and flexibility, and application temperatures can be lower.
