Some of these ports are duplicated in the front of the unit for easy connection. Figure 1-11 Connecting the Mouse 1-12 User's Guide 1. 5 Component Installation Observe the ESD Precautions before installing a system component. 1. 5. 1 ESD Precautions (ESD) Always observe the following electrostatic discharge precautions before installing a system component: 1. 2. Do not remove a component from its anti-static packaging until you are ready to install it. Wear a wrist grounding strap before handling electronic components. Wrist grounding straps are available at most electronic component stores. System Housing 1-13 1. 5. 2 1. Opening the Housing Use the screw driver to unscrew the cover of the housing, as shown below. You can install one 3. 5-inch drive, one CD-ROM drive and one hard disk drive in the disk drive metal frame. To remove the disk drive metal frame: 1. System Housing 1-23 1. 6 Reinstalling the Disk Drive Metal Frame 1. Reinstall the drive frames with drive(s) to the housing. Secure the metal frame with the required screw. Make sure that the hard disk drive cable is connected to the IDE1 connector on the board. 1-24 User's Guide 1. 7 Installing Expansion Boards Observe the ESD Precautions (see section 1. 5. 1) before installing a system component. 1.
