[. . . ] The bounding box can be useful when trying to arrange type in a specific area of the menu. You can resize the bounding box, which causes the text to reflow, changing the line endings and possibly how many lines of text display. Comparison of entering text freely (left) or within bounding box (right) To add text to a menu 1 Open the menu to which you want to add text. 2 Select either the Vertical Text or Horizontal Text tool from the toolbox. The pointer changes to an I-beam within a dotted box. The small horizontal line near the bottom of the I-beam marks the baseline on which the text rests. 3 Do one of the following: · Position the baseline of the I-beam pointer where you want the text to be located, and click to set the entry point for the text. The insertion point appears. · Drag the I-beam pointer to define the bounding box for the text. When you release the mouse button, the insertion point appears. Its location is determined by the alignment option set in the Character panel. 4 In the Character panel, select the attributes you want for the text. (See "Character panel" on page 97. ) You can change the orientation of vertical text by using the Rotate Character command in the Character Panel menu. 5 Type the desired text. To reposition the text without switching tools, Ctrl-drag it as needed. When you release the Ctrl key, the text pointer returns. ADOBE ENCORE DVD 2. 0 96 User Guide To resize the text bounding box 1 Open the menu containing the text block. 2 Select either the Vertical or Horizontal Text tool from the toolbox. The text bounding box appears. Note: If you don't see a bounding box, you entered the text freely and must manually change the line breaks. 4 Position the pointer over a selection handle. When it changes to a double-headed arrow, drag the handle to resize the bounding box. The text reflows within the box. Resizing a text bounding box with overflowed text Important: Be sure to use a text tool when resizing the text block. If you drag a bounding box handle using a selection tool, it scales the text as if it were an object and the text does not reflow. Selecting and formatting text Before you can format or change type, you must select it. To change a range of characters, a word, or paragraph within a text block, you select the text using the Text tool. To change all the characters in the text block, you can select the text block using one of the selection tools or the Layers panel. To transform text as you would any other object in the menu, you select the text block with the Selection tool or in the Layers panel, not with the Text tool. You can drag, scale, rotate, align, and distribute a text block. You use the Character panel to change the font and other text attributes. See also "Character panel" on page 97 To select a text block to transform it like an object 1 Open the menu that you want to edit. 2 Select the text block by using one of the following techniques: · Click the text directly in the Menu Viewer using the Direct Select tool · In the Layers panel, click the text layer. To find the keyboard shortcut for a tool, button, or menu command Do one of the following: · For a tool or button, hold the pointer over the tool or button until its tool tip appears. If available, the keyboard shortcut appears in the tool tip after the tool description. · For menu commands, look for the keyboard shortcut at the right of the command. · For keyboard shortcuts not shown in tool tips or on menus, the Shortcuts Appendix.
