Switching the Appliance Off In order to protect frozen goods, the appliance is guarded against accidental switching off (child-proof). Refrigerator and freezer compartments can be switched off independently of one another. 0 To switch off press and hold the ON/OFF button for about 5 seconds. A so-called "count down" is started in the temperature display, which counts backwards from "5" to "0". When "0" is reached the appliance switches off. Illumination at the temperature display goes off. 3 0 0 0 0 If the appliance is not to be used for an extended period: Switch appliance off by pressing and holding the ON/OFF button for about 5 seconds. Defrost freezer compartment and clean thoroughly (see section: "Maintenance and Cleaning"). In stand-by mode it is therefore possible to leave the door of the empty refrigerator closed during periods of extended absence. Opening the Freezer Compartment Door If the freezer compartment door is closed when the appliance is in operation, it is possible that it cannot be immediately opened again. A vacuum occurs in the freezer compartment which holds the door closed until pressure has been equalised. The door can be opened again after several minutes. 28 818 16 35-00/7 Interior Accessories Storage Shelves 0 A storage shelf must be inserted into the lower guide track above the fruit and vegetable drawers. It must always remain in this position, so that fruits and vegetables remain fresh longer. The remaining storage shelves can be adjusted to various heights: 0 Pull the storage shelf forward until it can be tipped up or down and removed. 0 To insert at a different height use the same procedure in reverse. Adjustment for tall items: 0 Remove the front half of the twopart vario glass storage shelf and insert it at a different level. Space is then gained for storage of tall items on the storage shelf below. Bottle rack Place bottles in the rack with the bottleneck to the front. Important: Only store unopened bottles horizontally.
