[. . . ] These operating instructions are for use with several technically comparable models with varying accessories. Please observe the notes which apply to your model. 1 Notes which are important for your safety or for the proper functioning of the appliance are stressed with a warning triangle and/ or with signal words (Warning!, Caution!, Important!). 0 This symbol guides you step by step in the operation of the appliance. 3 2 Supplementary information regarding operation and practical applications of the appliance appear after this symbol. Tips and notes concerning economical and environmentally sound use of the appliance are marked with the cloverleaf. [. . . ] The appliance electronics automatically recognize, when the fast freezing process can be ended, and automatically switches off the FAST FREEZE function (after approx. 30 to 51 hours, depending on the quantity of food to be frozen). 818 14 00-01/4 23 0 You can stop the fast freezing process manually at any time by pressing the FAST CHILL/-FREEZE button again. 3 The FAST FREEZE function can only be switched on when the refrigerator temperature regulator button is in the recessed position. Switching the Appliance Off In order to protect frozen goods, the appliance is guarded against accidental switching off (child-proof). Refrigerator and freezer compartments can be switched off independently of one another. 0 To switch off press and hold the ON/OFF button for about 5 seconds. A so-called "count down" is started in the temperature display, which counts backwards from "5" to "0". When "0" is reached the appliance switches off. Illumination at the temperature display goes off. 3 0 0 0 0 If the appliance is not to be used for an extended period: Switch appliance off by pressing and holding the ON/OFF button for about 5 seconds. Defrost freezer compartment and clean thoroughly (see section: "Maintenance and Cleaning"). Leave door open after defrosting to avoid accumulation of odours. 24 818 14 00-01/4 Stand-by Mode In the stand-by mode the temperature for the refrigerator is approximately +15°C. In stand-by mode it is therefore possible to leave the door of the empty refrigerator closed during periods of extended absence. Advantage: Unintentional closing of the door, or accidental closing of the door by persons who have access to your home during your absence, is no longer possible. The acoustic warning can be switched off for 24 hours with the WARNING OFF button. Opening the Freezer Compartment Door If the freezer compartment door is closed when the appliance is in operation, it is possible that it cannot be immediately opened again. A vacuum occurs in the freezer compartment which holds the door closed until pressure has been equalised. The door can be opened again after several minutes. 818 14 00-01/4 27 Interior Accessories Storage Shelves 0 A storage shelf must be inserted into the lower guide track above the fruit and vegetable drawers. It must always remain in this position, so that fruit and vegetables remain fresh longer. The remaining storage shelves can be adjusted to various heights: 0 Pull the storage shelf forward until it can be tipped up or down and removed. 0 To insert at a different height use the same procedure in reverse. Adjustment for tall items: 0 Remove the front half of the twopart vario glass storage shelf and insert it at a different level. Space is then gained for storage of tall items on the storage shelf below. Bottle rack Place bottles in the rack with the bottleneck to the front. Important: Only store unopened bottles horizontally. The bottle rack can be tilted for storing opened bottles. 28 818 14 00-01/4 Interior Accessories 0 To do this pull the bottle rack forward until it can be tilted upwards, then slide the front support into the next level up. Variable Inner Door The door compartments can be pulled up and removed, and inserted at other positions as needed. Drawers and Compartments Vario drawers-set The two large fruit and vegetable drawers can be divided with an adjustable partition (not included with all models). Bottle Holder (not included with all models) Some models are equipped with a bottle holder in the bottle compartment. This is used to prevent individual bottles from falling over and can be slid sideways. 818 14 00-01/4 29 Correct storage For physical reasons, the refrigerator compartment has different temperature zones. [. . . ] The necessary measures in accordance with appliance safety legislation regulations (GSG), accident prevention regulations for refrigeration appliances (VBG 20) and the regulations of the German Society of Electrical Engineers (VDE) were observed in the manufacture of this appliance. The refrigerant circuit has been checked for leaks. ; This appliance is in accordance with the following EU guidelines: 73/23/EWG dated 19 February 1973 - low voltage guidelines. 89/336/EWG dated 3 May 1989 (including guideline change notice 92/31/EWG) - EMV guideline 818 14 00-01/4 40 Guarantee Conditions AEG offer the following guarantee to the first purchaser of this appliance.
