Freezer
The freezer compartment, however, will become progrssively covered with frost. This should be removed withal plastic scraper, whenever the tickness of the frost exceeds 4 mm. During this operation it is not necessary to switch off the power supply or to remove the foodstuffs. However when the ice becomes very thick on the inner liner, complete defrosting should be carried out as follows: pull out the plug from the wall socket or turn the thermostat knob to th "0" setting. remove any stored food, wrap it in several layers newspaper and put it in a coll place. leave the door open, when defrosting is completed, dry the interior thoroughly turn the thermostat knob to the required setting or raplace the plug in the power socket. Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost from the evaporator as you could damage it. Do not use a maechanical device or any artificial means to speed up the thawing process other than those recommended by the manufacturer. A temperature rise of the frozen food packs, during defrosting , may shorten their safe storage life.
Disposal of old Appliances
For environmental reasons, refrigeration appliances must be disposed of properly. This applies to your old appliance, and - at the end of its service life - for your new appliance as well. Before disposing of old appliances make them inoperable. Remove plug from mains, sever the power cable, remove or destroy any snap or latch closures. This eliminates the danger that playing children lock themselves into the appliance (danger of suffocation!) or place themselves into other life-endangering situations.
