Unsent messages
If a fax message cannot be sent, it may be because: somebody picked up the phone while sending was in progress (note that priority is always given to telephone calls), or the recipient's fax machine was engaged or did not answer - it may have been switched-off or out of paper.
In either case you will need to re-send the message. To do this, press 5($' (on the e-m@iler), highlight the unsent fax (which is marked or ), then press )$; to re-send.

Interrupting the answering machine
While a call is being answered, you can lift the handset (or press +$1'6)5(() to take over from the answering machine. In other words - hear who's calling first, then answer those you want to speak to. If you don't want to hear VoiceMail messages coming in, you can switch off call screening. (For information see Advanced settings page 156. )
Playing back messages
