Only the USB flash disk with FAT 32/16 format and single partition can support ASUS CrashFree BIOS 3. The device size should be smaller than 8GB. DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS!Doing so can cause system boot failure!

Recovering the BIOS from a floppy disk
To recover the BIOS from a floppy disk: . Turn on the system.
Insert the floppy disk with the original or updated BIOS file to the floppy disk drive. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file.
Bad BIOS checksum. Checking for floppy. . .

When found, the utility reads the BIOS file and starts flashing the corrupted BIOS file.

DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS!Doing so can cause system boot failure!

Restart the system after the utility completes the updating process.
Recovering the BIOS from the support CD
To recover the BIOS from the support CD: 1. Remove any floppy disk from the floppy disk drive, then turn on the system. The utility displays the following message and automatically checks the floppy disk for the original or updated BIOS file. Insert the support CD to the optical drive.
Bad BIOS checksum. Checking for floppy. . .
When no floppy disk is found, the utility automatically checks the optical drive for the original or updated BIOS file. The utility then updates the corrupted BIOS file.
Bad BIOS checksum. Start flashing. . .
DO NOT shut down or reset the system while updating the BIOS!Doing so can cause system boot failure!

The recovered BIOS may not be the latest BIOS version for this motherboard. Visit the ASUS website (www. asus. com) to download the latest BIOS file.

This utility is available in the support CD that comes with the motherboard package.
ASUS Update requires an Internet connection either through a network or an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
Installing ASUS Update
To install ASUS Update: 2. Place the support CD in the optical drive. The Drivers menu appears.

Click the Utilities tab, then click InstallASUSUpdate. See page 5-3 for the Utilities screen menu. [. . . ] Install an Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU that supports the Intel® EM64T.

Install the 64-bit drivers for the motherboard components and devices from the support CD. Install the 64-bit drivers for expansion cards or add-on devices, if any.
Refer to the expansion card or add-on device(s) documentation, or visit the related website, to verify if the card/device supports a 64-bit system.
