[. . . ] Plug the line cord into the jack labeled TELEPHONE LINE and thread the cord through the tabs under the phone as shown. Modular telephone wall jack Tone/pulse switch Telephone line cord 4. This tab holds the handset when you hang up. Hold down the switchhook, and slide the tab up and out of its slot. Turn the tab so that the end with the hook is up. Then hold down the switchhook while you insert the tab back into its slot. Switchhook Handset tab 6 Make sure the cord snaps firmly into place. Place the phone on the wall jack mounting studs and pull down until it is held securely. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. If you cannot hear a dial tone, slide the VOLUME switch to the right. Plug the coiled cord into the handset jack on the left side of the base unit. Plug the other end of the coiled cord into the handset, then hang up. Connect the line cord to a modular wall jack and mount the phone on the wall jack as shown. Telephone operation Make a call Lift the handset. When you hear a dial tone, dial using the dial pad or memory buttons. Ringing indicator Telephone operation Answer a call When you hear the phone ring and the ringing indicator turns on, you have an incoming call. Lift the handset to answer the call. Ringing indicator The ringing indicator is lit when you have an incoming call. It is off when the phone is not ringing. End a call Hang up the handset. 8 NOTE: Redial memory can store up to 32 digits. If the last number dialed was longer than 32 digits, nothing will be stored. If you press any numbers while using the redial feature those new numbers will be stored in redial and replace the previous one. Erase redial You can erase the redial memory for privacy. Press PROG then press REDIAL/PAUSE and hang up. Press any key, then hang up. Flash Press FLASH to access call waiting or any other phone company subscriber services as described by your telephone service provider. 9 Telephone operation The last number dialed at this phone is stored in redial memory. To dial that number, lift the handset and listen for the dial tone, then press REDIAL/PAUSE. [. . . ] Inspect the line cord connections at the modular jack and at the telephone. Also inspect the coiled handset cord connections at both ends. · Unplug the telephone and connect it to another modular jack.
