[. . . ] If it's more convenient for you, you can leave the handset in the base all the time. It is impossible to overcharge the batteries. If you get a low battery indicator even after 14 hours of charging, the battery should be replaced. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of fire or damage to persons or damage to the telephone, read and follow these instructions carefully. Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. You can save battery power in the handset when the switch is set to OFF, but you will be unable to make or answer calls. Making a Call 1 2 Press P, and wait for the PHONE light to go on steadily. When you hear a dial tone, dial the number you're calling. Answering a Call · · Receiver/ Ringer Volume Control LOW BATT light shows battery power is low Make or respond to intercom call Access phone company subscriber services Prevent caller from hearing you If the handset is in the base, lift the handset. The PHONE light goes on, and the call is connected. If the handset is away from the base, press P or any key on the handset, including V. The PHONE light goes on, and the call is connected. Ending a Call · · If you are near the base, place the handset in the base. If you are away from the base, press P. Redial last number called Make, answer, or end a call Store/access numbers in telephone memory Redial The last number dialed (up to 32 digits) on this phone is stored in redial memory until you dial another number. 1 Press P, and wait for the PHONE light to go on. 2 When you hear a dial tone, press R. Mute The Mute feature allows you to hear your caller, but prevents the caller from hearing you. To continue your conversation with the caller: Press M again. Ringer Controls Handset Ringer Volume Temporary Tone Turn handset RIGNER ON or OFF In standby mode, adjust the handset ringer volume by pressing + on the handset to increase volume, or - to decrease. Base Ringer Volume Set the Ringer ON/OFF switch on the back of the base to ON if you want the base to ring, then press + or - on the front of the base to select high or low ringer volume. Set the switch to OFF if you don't want the base to ring. When the Base Ringer is OFF, the base won't ring, but the IN USE light will flash when a call is coming in. Ringer Selection You can choose from four different ringing options. [. . . ] If there is no dial tone on that phone either, the problem is probably in your wiring or local service. Call your local telephone service company. Noise in the Handset and Buttons Don't Work The base unit and handset might not be set to the same security code. Place the handset in the base for at least 5 seconds to reset the security code. Noise or Interference · · You may be out of range.
