To Test Straight Twisted Pair (Shielded or Unshielded) Cables
1.  [. . . ] For RJ45 cables that have only 2 pairs (4 conductors) wired please refer to the LED guide printed on the remote terminator. In those applications only 2 of the LEDs will need to illuminate green to indicate a good cable. For shielded cable,  you may test the shielding by pushing the GND (Ground) button on. The pair LEDs and GND LED should all illuminate green except for pair 3 & 6. If any LEDs illuminate green first and red afterwards or do not illuminate,  the shielding is bad. Do not connect the cable tester to a live circuit. Make sure the 9-Volt alkaline battery is installed properly in the battery compartment.
