This label identifies that the NEMA 1 enclosure has been changed to meet the requirements of a NEMA 12 enclosure. Installing the NEMA 12 kit is best performed before the drive is installed. If the drive is already installed, it is highly recommended that the drive be removed from the installation and the area be cleaned prior to the installation of the NEMA 12 kit. This ensures for a better adhesion of the overlay on the drive. A description of both the NEMA 1 and NEMA 12 enclosures are provided below. NEMA 1 enclosures are intended for indoor use primarily to provide a degree of protection against contact with the enclosed equipment or locations where unusual service conditions do not exist. NEMA 12 enclosures are intended for use primarily to provide a degree of protection against dust, falling dirt, and dripping non-corrosive coolant. The figure below shows the difference between NEMA 1 and NEMA 12 ratings. 8 3 - Installation Procedure For NEMA 12 IP55 Kit RSiS1SXN12 Kit, Frame Size 0 & Size 1 3. 2 Installation Procedure for RSiS1SXN12 Kit, Frame Size 0 & Size 1 The RSiS1SXN12 kits each contain two different overlay sizes. Figure 1 shows the rectanglular overlay (the smaller of the two sets provided) and Figure 2 shows the overlay with angled ends. Refer to Figure 5. Determine the correct label for the RSiS1SX N12 Kit, Frame Size 0 and 1. 1 · With the backing still attached, place the overlay on the enclosure to determine how it will fit within the indentation of the enclosure. 5 · 2 If the alignment is not correct pull the overlay up, reposition, and check again. This can be done two or three times before the overlay is damaged. · Figure 3 shows what the finished product will look like. You should be comfortable with this prior to sticking the overlay on the unit as it can only be repositioned two or three times before the adhesion won't stick. 6 3 · If the alignment is correct, position the remaining overlay into place using the enclosure indentation as a guide. [. . . ] Check the appendix for dimensions on where to place the overlay on the enclosure. · 2 If the alignment is not correct pull the overlay up, reposition, and check again. This can be done two or three times before the overlay is damaged.
