3. RediStart Micro II Computer Card Jumpers . [. . . ] If the jog at set speed will be used on a regular basis, the motor temperature should be monitored using a thermostat. The thermostat can be connected between the power and input terminal 1 of the JC13 terminal block on the RediStart Micro II computer card so that the starter will trip when a fault occurs. Alternatively, temperature monitoring devices, such as thermistors or RTDs can be used. This will prevent the motor from being overheated and inadvertently damaged. Due to the way the jog at set speed operates, the starter may require the installation of a 5% line reactor to eliminate harmonic problems being introduced into the power system. This is dependent on the size of the motor in relation to the capacity of the power system. The jog at set speed has more of an effect on a weak power system. Values Default The jog current is adjustable from 25% to 250% in 1% increments. The default value for the jog current is 50%.
Max. Time (maximum time)
Description The maximum time parameter sets the time limit for continuous operation in the jog at set speed mode. This parameter should be set to a value that doesn't allow the motor to be operated in the jog at set speed mode for such a length of time that damage to the motor can occur. During initial set-up, monitor the motor temperature to determine it's maximum safe jogging time and then enter this time. This can help avoid damage to the motor by stopping the starter before the motor overheats. This parameter does not stop the operator from stopping and re-starting the motor during jog operation which could still lead to the operation time of the motor being exceeded. Use the timers in the Starts Lockouts submenu to protect against this. Values Default The maximum time is adjustable from 1 to 9000 seconds in 1 second intervals. The default value for the maximum time parameter is 200 seconds.

Kick Curr (kick current)
Description The kick current parameter sets the level of the kick current that is applied to the motor when a start command is given and the starter is set for operation in the forward jog at set speed mode. This parameter should be set to a midrange value and then the kick time should be increased in 0. 1 second intervals until the kick is applied long enough to start the motor rotating when a start is given. If the motor does not start rotating with the set kick current value then increase the kick current and begin adjusting the kick time from 0. 1 seconds again. If the motor accelerates to a speed which is greater than the jog speed, then either the kick current or kick time should be decreased. Values Default The kick current parameter is adjustable from 50% to 400% in 1% increments. The default value for the kick current parameter is 300%.
Kick Time
Description The kick time parameter sets the length of time that the current level, as specified by the kick current, is applied to the motor.
