Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

[. . . ] Owner's Manual Dear Friend: Congratulations on choosing quality craftsmanship and timeless design. Too many products are designed for throw-away use. Hand-built craftsmanship is sacrificed for the lower costs of automated assembly. That's great for every-day items but the soul of a product is often lost when designers care primarily about manufacturing efficiency. [. . . ] Air is thinner (under less pressure) in Denver, Colorado than in San Diego. Your Bigha altimeter uses an extremely sensitive sensor to monitor barometric pressure (barometric pressure is just another way of saying air pressure). Unfortunately barometric pressure can change with weather as well as altitude. (That's why airplane pilots reset their altimeters at the start of every flight. ) If barometric pressure changes when the bike isn't moving (no measured speed), weather is presumed the cause. The altimeter is automatically adjusted to compensate. If the bicycle is in motion, barometric pressure changes are presumed caused by changes in altitude. Of course if weather changes while you ride, altitude accuracy is compromised. Most weather-caused changes in barometric pressure occur over many hours and ridse of a few hours are seldom affected significantly. Nevertheless, all altimeters, including those used on multi-million dollar airplanes, eventually fall out of calibration because of changes in weather. You can easily recalibrate the altimeter if you know the altitude at which your bicycle is located. Presume the bike is at a known altitude of 925 feet but the altimeter reads 12, 260 (it is unlikely you'll ever have an error this large but it makes a great example). The Setup menu appears as earlier described. Make sure the selection box is on Altitude and press Select. A box appears with your current altitude reading within it. The ten thousands number has an underline--the cursor--indicating it is the value being adjusted. Every press of the Up button increases that value and every Down press decreases it. If you reach the maximum possible value for a digit and press Up again, the value rolls over to the beginning. For example, if an allowed range of numbers is 0-9, pressing Up twelve times in a row will show the following 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, 1, 2. . . The exact reverse is true when you press the Down key and numbers will go like this 1, 0, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0. . . Altitude 12, 260 feet The ten thousands number can only have two values: 0 and 1. That's because the maximum altitude is 14, 000 feet (higher than the highest paved road in the world). When the desired value is displayed, press Select to register it. Press Select after it is chosen and the cursor moves to the hundreds digit. Altitude 960 feet Hundreds works a little different because altitude can be less than zero, so values of -3 to +9 are possible. Grab the Clickbox and make sure the button is pushed up towards you (away from the fender). If you can't get the button to push, slide the Clickbox back into the cable that feeds it. With the button pushed up, slide the Clickbox onto the shift pin and axle. [. . . ]
