N Before using the tool on wooden workpieces, make sure to fit dust extraction equipment. N Before using the tool on metal workpieces, make sure to remove the dust extraction equipment. N Never use the tool without a sanding sheet. N Never use the tool without a sanding base. N Hearing protection should be worn whenever the sound level seems uncomfortable. Sanding lead-based paint or MDF Sanding of lead-based paint is not recommended due to the difficulty of controlling the contaminated dust. The greatest danger of lead poisoning is to children and pregnant women. Any pre-1960 building may in the past have been painted with paint containing lead. This paint may be covered with additional layers of paint. Before starting work, it is important to determine whether the paint to be sanded contains lead. This can be done using a test kit or by a professional decorator. Personal protection N Do not let children or pregnant women enter the work area. N Wear a dust mask specifically designed for protection against lead paint dust and fumes and ensure that persons within or entering the work area are also protected. N Do not eat, drink or smoke in the work area. Do not store any food or drink in the work area. N Wash yourself very carefully before eating, drinking or smoking. Environment N Remove the paint in such a way that the amount of dust is minimised. N Seal the work area with plastic sheeting. N Minimise the amount of dust outside the work area. Cleaning N Thoroughly vacuum and clean all surfaces in the work area every day. N Regularly change the dustbag and filters of the vacuum cleaner.
