[. . . ] The aluminum cup is specially sculpted to eliminate diffraction when the tweeter is pivoted. All VSi models include a boundary compensation switch that allows the installer to shape the sound of each speaker to counteract the effect of being installed too close to a listening area's corner, or too far away for that matter. The VSi speakers are constructed of rugged materials--making them ideal for installations in kitchens or bathrooms. Since the speaker installation is permanent and the furniture placement may not be, you should first determine the best long-term location for the speakers--one that will accommodate future relocation of the furniture in the room, while still allowing for an unobstructed sound path from the speakers to the listening area. If you are bi-wiring or bi-amplifying your VSi 5835 loudspeakers you must move the jumper on the crossover from the "NORMAL" terminal to the "BIAMP"terminal or you risk damaging your speakers and your amplifier. If the VSi 5835 is installed horizontally, the tweeter/midrange sub-baffle should be rotated so the tweeter and midrange drivers remain vertical. If the speaker is mounted far off-axis, the sub-baffle can be angled toward the prime listening position. Remove the 4 Phillips head screws holding the sub-baffle in place. Rotate the sub-baffle so the tweeter is oriented above the midrange driver, and slide the baffle back into place. The response of a speaker changes when it is mounted close to the boundary junctions of a room (near an adjacent wall or ceiling or close to the corners of the room). Your Boston VSi loudspeakers have been carefully voiced to compensate for these boundary effects. The speaker is mounted less than 18-inches (46cm) from the junction of two surfaces (wall/wall, wall/ceiling or wall/floor).
