A signal word (DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION) is used with the alert symbol to indicate the likelihood and the potential severity of injury. In addition, a hazard symbol may be used to represent the type of hazard. WARNING Gasoline and its vapors are extremely flammable and explosive. [. . . ] Squeeze dry the foam element in a clean cloth. Carburetor Adjustment The carburetor is pre-set at the factory to operate efficiently under most conditions. If adjustments are required, see any authorized Briggs & Stratton dealer for service assistance. CAUTION The manufacturer of the equipment on which this engine is installed specifies the top speed at which the engine will be operated. DO NOT EXCEED this speed. Inspect Muffler And Spark Arrester Clean all debris from muffler area. Inspect the muffler, guard, and spark arrester, if equipped, for damage or plugging from deposits. Clean parts of debris and deposits or, if necessary, replace using only original equipment parts. CAUTION Do not use pressurized air or solvents to clean the filter. Pressurized air can damage the filter and solvents will dissolve the filter. Saturate the foam element with clean engine oil. To remove the excess engine oil, squeeze the foam element in a clean cloth. Install the foam element into the air filter base. Install the air filter assembly onto the carburetor and secure with screw. WARNING Fire could result. · Replacement parts must be the same and installed in the same position as the original parts. en 7 How To Check The Spark Plug Remove the spark plug and clean with a wire brush. Replace the spark plug if, upon inspection, the electrode (A, Figure 5) is burned or worn. Check the gap with a wire gauge (B) and reset, if necessary, to 0. 030 in (0. 76 mm). NOTE: In some areas, local law requires using a resistor spark plug to suppress ignition signals. If this engine was originally equipped with a resistor spark plug, use same type for replacement. Daily or before every use, clean the engine of any accumulated dirt or debris from the finger guard (A, Figure 10), linkage, springs, controls (B) and around and behind the muffler (C). CAUTION Do not use water to clean the engine. Water could contaminate the fuel system. Use a brush or dry cloth to clean the engine. Over time, debris can accumulate in the cylinder cooling fins and cause the engine to overheat. This debris cannot be observed without partial disassembly of the engine.
