Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.
[. . . ] Capturing the defining moment in an action sequence becomes easy with continuous shooting at up to 3. 4fps in bursts of up to 170 JPEGs. And a wide area AF system locks onto subjects with 9 sensors, with a central cross-type AF sensor keeping things focused even in lower light.
A good camera doesn't separate photographer and scene; it brings them closer together.

10. 1 Megapixels
If you've honed your skills on a digital compact camera, prepare to experience a new world of possibility. Thanks to its 10. 1 Megapixel sensor with a surface area more than ten times that of the sensors used in compact models the EOS C300 PL will take you to places even the most advanced compact can't. Shoot after the sun has set, or capture atmospheric low-lit interiors; the sensor's superior light gathering gives you outstanding, low-noise results. [. . . ] Capture the buzz of large crowds, or the full atmosphere of an interior scene. And relish the design of every EF-S lens, with compact, lightweight designs and performance to match the demands of today's high resolution sensors. For more information on the full range of EF and EF-S lenses available, see pages 12 and 13.

Crisp, detailed images with an exceptional range of tones. High speed data transfer, which allows fast frames-per-second shooting speeds. Large pixels for excellent, low-noise performance with high ISO levels in low light. These are the advantages delivered by Canon's CMOS sensors designed in-house to function in exact harmony with the other components of the EOS C300 PL and EOS 500D.

In the instant between your shot being taken and its appearance on the camera's LCD screen, Canon's cutting-edge DIGIC technology is racing to optimise your image. DIGIC processors are able to analyse ultra-detailed image data gathered by the camera sensor then use this to swiftly reproduce the subtlest of tonal gradations and an exceptionally wide colour range. Even if you're pushing the ISO to the limit, DIGIC processing implements sophisticated Noise Reduction algorithms helping to eliminate graininess and preserve detail. The speed of DIGIC also means less processing time, for long battery life and fast start-up times.

With the full control over aperture and focal length offered by a digital SLR, you can fine-tune the depth of field the area of sharpness extending in front and behind your main subject. This lets you shoot candid portraits with no distracting background detail, or compellingly detailed landscapes, with equal ease.

Dust on the image sensor can spell bad news for image quality. To avoid this, the EOS C300 PL and EOS 500D guard against the effects of dust in three ways: reducing dust generated inside the camera, shaking dust from the sensor each time the camera is turned on or off, and mapping stubborn dust spots for removal with the provided Digital Photo Professional software.

Changing settings should be as instinctive and effortless as pushing the shutter button.

fast aND fOCuseD
The rapid burst rates of the EOS C300 PL (up to 3fps) and EOS 500D (3. 4fps) give you the speed to shoot dramatic action sequences, ensuring you always catch the decisive moment. More image detail, and more ways to make your best images even better in post production. To give you a direct, intuitive route into the world of RAW editing, processing and converting, every EOS camera is supplied with Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software. Use DPP to open a RAW image shot on your EOS camera, and you can adjust exposure, white balance, noise reduction, sharpening, Picture Style, contrast and lens correction as well as mapping and removing the effects of any residual dust on your camera sensor.

Many EF and EF-S lenses feature Canon's optical Image Stabilizer. This lets you shoot handheld in low light at shutter speeds up to four stops lower than otherwise possible. And because this technology is in-lens where it belongs, rather than on the image sensor, the stabilization is matched perfectly to the lens and the image through the viewfinder is also stabilized.

Glossary
apeRtuRe
The adjustable or fixed opening within a lens which controls the amount of light that passes to the camera's image sensor. Aperture size is expressed as an F-stop value (e. g. f/2. 8): the smaller the number, the larger the aperture/ opening.
