About the User Modes You can configure the scanner settings with the user modes described below. Daily Cleaning To maintain high-quality scanning, you should periodically clean the following: • Main unit • Flatbed (Platen glass) • Pressure Board • Feeder CAUTION • Before you clean the scanner, turn OFF the scanner and computer and disconnect the power cord from the power outlet. Otherwise, an electrical shock may result. • Never clean the scanner with any kind of organic solvent, such as alcohol, benzene, or paint thinner. It might cause a fire and electrical shock, or cause the exterior of the scanner to disfigure or discolor. • Never spray detergent or water directly onto the flatbed (platen glass). [. . . ] • Some scanning mode and resolution settings may produce incomplete images.
