Thank you for purchasing Canon imageCLASS MF5530. To get your machine ready for use,  please follow the instructions in this sheet before referring to any other documentation. 

Unpack the machine and its components. 
Check that you have the following:

 Machine

 Cartridge

 Cassette

extension

 Extension

Power cord USB cable imageCLASS MF5500 Series User Software CD (MF5550/MF5530 Main Menu,  NewSoft Presto! [. . . ] Make sure the paper stack sits below the hooks. 
Hooks

4 Pinch and slide the side paper end guides to match the size of paper. 

5 Even out the edges of the paper stack. Make sure the height of the paper stack does not exceed the limit marks .

6 Insert the paper cassette back into the machine as far as it will go. 

NOTE

If you do not completely insert the cassette into the machine,  paper jams may occur. 

Install the software and connect the machine to your computer. 
IMPORTANT

Do not connect the USB cable before installing the software. If you connect the USB cable before installing the software and the Found New Hardware Wizard screen appears,  click [Cancel].

The instructions below are for Windows XP. For Windows 98/Me/2000,  see the Software Guide.  For Windows 2000/XP,  log on as Administrator to install the software.

Turn on your computer. Quit any open applications,  including virus checking software. Insert the imageCLASS MF5500 Series User Software CD into the CD-ROM drive. When the Canon MF5550/MF5530 Main Menu screen appears,  click [Install Software]. 

If the Main Menu screen is not displayed,  on the Windows desktop,  click [Start]  [My Computer]. Open the CD-ROM icon,  then double-click [setup (setup. exe)]. 

5 When the Canon Multi-function Printers InstallShield Wizard screen appears,  click
[Next >] and follow the instructions on the screen. 

6 When the installation is complete,  click [Finish] to close the InstallShield Wizard. 

7 When prompted to connect the USB cable,  click [OK]. Make sure the machine's power
