[. . . ] Set this option to increase the contrast in black and white scanning to promote the accurate recognition of characters in OCR software. For OCR scans, set the resolution to at least 300 dpi. r Color Matching This option is not applicable for the MultiPASS L6000. Chapter 6 Copying and Scanning With the MultiPASS L6000 6-7 6 In the L6000 tab, you specify options for a Black & White scan. r Page Size Specifies the size of image you are scanning. r Black & White Options Specify the Threshold, Brightness, and Contrast of the image. In the Black & White Options list box, select the desired option: Threshold Provides a high contrast evaluation of the image in terms of black and white only. Halftone Simulates the tonal range of an image with a precise pattern of lines and dots. 6-8 Copying and Scanning With the MultiPASS L6000 Chapter 6 7 To start the scan, click the Preview or Scan button. r If you click Preview, the image is displayed in the ScanGear window. You can adjust the properties of the images as needed for the final scan, such as: · · · · · · · Crop the image Reverse the color or tone Mirror the image Rotate the image Scale the output size Adjust the tone Adjust the contrast/brightness of a black and white image When you click Scan, the scanned image is stored in the Scan folder with an assigned number such as SCAN_19. Chapter 6 Copying and Scanning With the MultiPASS L6000 6-9 Copying and Scanning Scanning From a Windows Application You can use the MultiPASS to scan documents directly into a Windows application that supports a TWAIN interface (such as Adobe® PageMaker®). Some applications allow multiple page scans, while others do not. When an active fax job completes successfully, it is automatically moved to the Sent Fax folder or deleted (based on whether you specified to delete after sending in the Send Fax dialog box). When an active print job completes successfully, it is automatically deleted. r Queued A queued job is a job waiting to be PC faxed or printed. Queued jobs are processed in chronological order. r Scheduled A scheduled job is a PC fax you chose to send at a later time. You can select a scheduled fax job at the appropriate time to have it sent. r Retry 7-4 Working With Documents in the Desktop Manager Chapter 7 A PC fax job receives the Retry status if: · · The MultiPASS L6000 is busy with another task, and thus unable to transmit the PC fax, or The receiving fax line is busy. The Desktop Manager continues to try sending the fax until the transmission is successful or the Desktop Manager exceeds the defined number of retries. If a job cannot be completed successfully within the specified number of retries, the job is marked with a Failed status. The job remains in the Out Box folder until you reprocess or delete it. Documents in Desktop Manager r On Hold A held job is a PC fax you chose to place on hold, rather than send immediately. The held fax job remains in the Out Box folder until you choose to send or delete it. r Failed A job receives a Failed status because a PC fax could not be sent successfully.
