Before using it, be sure to read the precautions contained in this User's Guide, and keep the User's Guide in a safe place for future reference. All the illustrations in this manual show the EX-M1. See the text that accompanies the illustrations for information about how the EX-S1 and EX-M1 differ from each other. E EX-M1 INTRODUCTION INTRODUCTION Unpacking Check to make sure that all of the items shown below are included with your camera. If something is missing, contact your dealer as soon as possible. Power button Mode REC PLAY AUDIO (EX-M1 only) Approximate Time to APO 2 minutes 2 minutes 10 seconds 29 GETTING READY Using the On-screen Menus Pressing MENU displays menus on the monitor screen that you can use to perform various operations. The menu that appears depends on whether you are in the REC mode or the PLAY mode. The following shows an example menu procedure in the REC mode. q Menu Screen Operations When you want to do this: Move between tabs Move from the tab to the settings Move between the settings Display the options available for a setting Select an option Register an option selection and exit the menu screen Do this: Rock the controller left or right Rock the controller down Rock the controller up or down Rock the controller right or click the controller Rock the controller up or down Click the controller 1. Turn on the camera, and then align the mode selector with "REC" to enter the REC mode. · If you want to enter the PLAY mode instead, you would align the mode selector with "PLAY". Mode selector Register an option selection and return to the menu screen Exit the menu screen Rock the controller left Press MENU Tab 2. Press MENU. Rock the controller left or right to select the tab you want, and then rock it down to move the selection cursor from the tab to the settings. · If you ever need to move the selection cursor back from the settings to the tabs, rock the controller up until the cursor reaches the top of the menu. 6. If you want to do this: Apply the setting and exit the menu screen Apply the setting and return to menu screen to change other settings Do this: Click the controller. Rock the controller up or down to select the option you want, and then click. 31 GETTING READY Configuring Display Language and Clock Settings Be sure to configure the following settings before using the camera to record images. · Display language · Date and time Note that the current date and time settings are used by the camera to generate the date and time that are stored along with image data, etc. IMPORTANT!· The camera's clock settings are cleared whenever power is totally cut off. This can happen if the battery goes dead while the camera is not being supplied power by the USB cradle. The clock setting screen will appear automatically the next time you turn on power after the settings are cleared. Set the date and time before using the camera. · The current date and time settings will be cleared if the battery remains dead without being charged for about one day. · Recording images without configuring the clock settings causes incorrect time information to be registered. Be sure to configure the clock settings before using the camera. 32 GETTING READY 1. Press the power button to turn on the camera. Rock the controller up or down to select the language you want. : Japanese English : English Français : French Deutsch : German Español : Spanish Italiano : Italian 4. Set the date and the time. To do this: Move the cursor between settings Change the setting at the current cursor location Do this: Rock the controller left or right. Click to register the language setting and advance to the clock settings. 5.
