Manual abstract: user guide CONTINENTAL MICROWAVE 1 M & 1.4 M MOTORIZED MOUNTS
Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.
[. . . ] Two micro-switches are again used to limit full left and full right movement. Movement is controlled by three push buttons, MORE (+), LESS (-) and FAST. The vehicle heading is set by a variable control, which is fitted to the front panel of the Control Unit. LED's on the front panel of the Control Unit indicate that the azimuth and polarisation axes are in the correct position to stow the antenna. [. . . ] Travel limit microswitches are wired directly to the Servo Amplifier; these prevent any movement when they are operated. 3. 2 Notes on Testing
Testing the Control Unit consists mainly in checking the correct operation of the controls. The following voltages are needed to set the preset controls: AZIMUTH VOLTAGE 8. 427 6. 000 3. 573
CLINOMETER VOLTAGE 7. 800
AZIMUTH READING 90° 180° 270°
ELEVATION READING +45°

SERVO AMPLIFIER Overall Description The Servo Amplifier is used to control the azimuth and elevation drives motor. Because there are no user serviceable parts within this unit, the whole unit is replaced by a serviceable spare amplifier in the event of a failure.
4. 2
Servo Stall On rare occasions the Servo Amplifier may stall for no apparent reason. In such an event, switch off the control and allow two minutes before switching on the system again. If the Servo amplifier stalls repeatedly or fails to reset itself after two minutes further investigation will be necessary. The most common reason for occasional failure is that the motor drive is set too low.
4. 2
Jumper Links When fitting a replacement Servo Amplifier ensure that the jumper links inside the servo Amplifier unit are set in accordance with Table 1:

DIP switches 5, 9, 10 should be set so that they are in the position furthest away from the PCB. Four adjustments should be made to the controls on the Servo Amplifier: INPUT - set the speed of the motor (Clockwise to increase speed) TACH. - fully clockwise GAIN - fully clockwise
BALANCE - set forward and reverse speed to be the same

POLARISATION CONTROLLER Introduction The purpose of the polarisation controller is to match the polarisation of the ground station antenna to the polarisation of the satellite antenna. In systems, which use the 1. 0/1. 4m antenna, this is achieved by the use of a motor to rotate the antenna waveguide port. The motor is able to drive the waveguide port through 180° in a continuous motion, either clockwise or counter-clockwise. This enables the waveguide port to be rotated ±90° about a nominally aligned position. The polarisation controller is fitted into a 1U high, 19-inch standard, rack-mounting shelf. The shelf contains a polarisation Control PCB and Power Supply Unit. The motor control switches, a POWER ON LED and the digital polarisation Angle display are fitted to the front panel; the connectors to the motor and the power supply are mounted on the rear panel. The motor control switches enable the operator to select the direction, and rotational speed of the waveguide port. All the switches are of a PUSH TO OPERATE typed. The direction is either CLOCKWISE (CW) or COUNTER-CLOCKWISE (CCW). The speed is normally SLOW but can be increased by pushing the FAST switch. The polarisation angle is displayed with an accuracy of 0. 1°.
5. 2
Orthogonal Mode Transducer (OMT) The OMT is a mechanical assembly comprises the antenna feedhorn, the waveguide port, the transmit waveguide connector, the receive waveguide connector, the waveguide rotary joint, the LNB and the polarisation drive assembly. The polarisation drive assembly includes the motor, gearing, the rotary position potentiometer, and the power connectors. The OMT is mounted inside an open U shaped housing at the end of the antenna feed arm. [. . . ] THE INNER RING RELATES TO THE STOWING POSITION OF THE ANTENNA DISH. UNDO THE GRUB SCREWS WHICH SECURE THE CAM RINGS. MOVE THE RINGS SO THAT THEY OPERATE THE SWITCHES EITHER SOONER OR LATER THAN THE CURRENT SETTING. RETIGHTEN THE GRUB SCREWS WHEN THE DESIRED SETTING IS ACHIEVED. [. . . ]
