[. . . ] Serie Mini Hints and tricks for users 2nd Edition ­ February 2007 This guide presents, for those who are already system users, helpful tips and frequently asked questions about Corte Certo ­ plates in the Mini series. It should be used as a complement of the manual included with the system. For quick subject searches, we recommend using either the index on next page or Word's Ctrl+F function, which will require a key word to be entered. In case any errors are experienced, the Errors and Other Errors sections may be useful. [. . . ] Special hints. A ­ How to reduce cut calculation time The amount of time it takes Corte Certo to calculate the position of pieces depends mainly on four factors: · The number of pieces of different sizes. 9 · · · Number of different plates made available for the cut. Processing capacity and memory on the computer. In most cases, complete calculations take a few minutes to be processed. It is only cases that involve a large number of pieces and plates that calculations may take longer, sometimes several minutes or even hours, (especially in very old computers). To accelerate the process, using computers with fast processors is recommended. Some other points may be observed: · Some types of screen savers may increase calculation time, since part of the system's processing power is allocated to it. · The same may occur with some anti-virus programs. These notices and observations considered, there are two other configurations that allow for reduced calculation times: 1) SHORTEN CALCULATION This button is displayed during a calculation and allows it to be interrupted. Warning: an interrupted calculation hardly ever offers good optimization results. This command's function is simply to open the viewer more quickly or go back to the configuration window. 2) QUICK CALCULATION This option can be found in Calculation>Configurations>Type of calculation. It is normally used to get quick estimates, especially in retail work. It may also make no difference whether this option is selected when it comes to very simple projects that include less pieces and a smaller number of different dimensions, and not complex ones, where a slower calculation option will produce more positioning possibilities. The Intensive 2 option should be used for the most complex calculations as well as for when the user is running Corte Certo on a computer equipped with a very powerful processor. The intermediate options, Complete and Intensive 1, are more recommended. Read more on this in the following item: How to improve cut efficiency. B - What to do to improve cut efficiency How efficient Corte Certo's automatic calculation is depends on several factors, of which the most important is the kind and number of pieces to be used in the calculation. The following hints may improve efficiency: · Select the Intensive 1 or Intensive 2 calculation option. But it is also true that the more you use Corte Certo, the less you need to enter and configure. To speed up this sort of task, Corte Certo makes several tools available. When filling out a spreadsheet, for example, the user can copy the field don the top line by simply pressing Enter. 11 · Copying in field from previous line. To use this function: Edit project > Config > Activate option Reproduce empty field . . . How to use it: Just press ENTER in an empty field so that the content of the previous line can be copied. With the mouse is possible to copy of any other field from spreadsheet. · Quick copying of any field from any line. To use this function: Edit project > Config > Activate option Quick field copy . . . How to use it: Just click on the field you wish to copy and right after that on an empty one to which you want the previous field's data to be copied. And the descriptions selected from a "description bank" you prepare yourself: · Filing commonly used descriptions. [. . . ] This will incur in a small and generally insignificant loss of material. Either there are no plates of the material used (X) in the project(s) or they're not enabled: The plates to be used are either not enabled by the "+" sign on the table or are not present in the table data. Check the plate table for the material used, (or the fragments table, if they have also been configured as raw material in the basic calculation configuration). 13­ General Errors During Corte Certo operation, warning messages about a given error may be displayed during the processing of data entered by the user. For common errors, a description of the problem that will aid in its solution is presented, (e. g. : dimension of the piece equal to zero, etc. ), as shown in the previous section. For other kinds of errors, those less common, the user may want to attempt solving them using the items below. [. . . ]
