TCP monitors and ensures correct transfer of data. IP receives the data from TCP, breaks it up into packets, and ships it off to a network. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) is a protocol for assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network. With dynamic addressing, a device can have a different IP address every time it connects to the network. In some systems, the IP address of the device can even change while it is still connected. DHCP also supports a mix of static and dynamic IP addresses. Dynamic addressing simplifies network administration because the software keeps track of IP addresses rather than requiring an administrator to manage the task. New computers can be added to a network without manually assigning each one a unique IP address. IP Table Edit, remove, or enter a control system's IP address in the IP table to enable communication between the touchpanel and a control system. The touchpanel can communicate with multiple control systems. Refer to the latest version of the Crestron 2-Series Control Systems Reference Guide (Doc. 6256) for more information on IP tables.
