During filling/heating it is normal for the pump to make a noise. The appliance will also run out of water much more quickly than with subsequent fills. This is caused by heating and subsequent drying of the sealers used in assembling the steam generator and iron. you are recommended to ventilate the room. If you have not used steam for several minutes, press the steam delivery button a number of times away from the "Safe transport": certain models are fitted with a locking system which locks the iron in position during transport. When the iron is locked in position, it must not be used as a carrying handle to transport the appliance!To position the iron correctly, insert the tip of the plate into the housing B, rest the iron in position and move the lock J to the locking position. To release the iron, move the lock J into the release position and remove the iron from its housing. While ironing, if the iron rest has not been removed from the appliance, you can rest the tip of the iron on the heat resistant base C above the housing B. [. . . ] Turn the appliance off immediately and contact an authorised De'Longhi Customer Services. Press the steam button several times away from the ironing board. [. . . ]
