[. . . ] Engine oil level Füllstand Motoröl Engine oil level In four-stroke engines the engine oil is used to lubricate the valve gear, the main bearings and the cylinder/piston assembly. insufficient lubrication can result in irreparable damage to the engine. Deteriora-tion of the oil quality and slight oil consumption are perfectly normal in all four-stroke engines. Oil consumption will vary depending on the way the vehicle is used (e. High revving and high speed riding will result in increased oil consumption). The oil change intervals defined in the maintenance schedule are calculated on the basis of the total quality of oil in the engine and average consumption values based on standardizet parameters. To prevent possible problems, alwys check the oil level before using the vehicle. Every time you run the vehicle, check the oil with engine cold Make sure the oil level is between the MAX and MIN marks on the dipstick, as shown in fig. 1, and that the vehicle is resting on a flat surface during the level check. Engine oil level Füllstand Motoröl Quanty of oil of about 1100 cc (125) / 1200 cc (250) If you check the oil with the engine hot, the level will be lower; to get a reliable reading you should wait for at least 10 minutes after stopping the engine. Top up with oil after checking the level, if necessary. Make sure you do not exceed the MAX level mark. Check and top up with engine oil every 3000 Km. Oil pressure warning light The oil pressure warning light illuminates when the ignition key is turned to "ON" and should swich off when the scooter starts moving. Make sure the light switches off after the engine is started. If it lights up during braking, slow running or on bends, check the oil level and top up if necessary. If the warning light still goes on during braking, slow running or on bends, have your vehicle checked at a Authorised Derbi Service Center Engine oil level Füllstand Motoröl Have the oil and the filter changed every 6000 km at a Authorised Derbi Service Center. Completely drain the engine oil through drain plug "B" fig. Some of the original oil will always remain in the circuit, therefore, after refitting the drain and strainer plugs pour in only 600 or 650 cc of new oil through filler plug "A" (fig. 1) Now start the engine and allow it to idle for a few minutes before switching off. Wait for about 5 minutes and then check the level, topping up if necessary but without exceeding the MAX level mark. The filer cartridge must be changed every time you change the oil. [. . . ] It is possible, however, that the vehicle may suddenly stop and be impossible to restart. In this case, the rider who does not possess a wide knowledge of mechanics should only check two points, which are what generally cause the vehicle to stop if there is no major breakdown. - Check that there is sufficient petrol in the fuel tank and that it flows down from the tank to the carburettor. Once proven that the gasoline arrives to the carburetor, verify that the fuses have not melted. [. . . ]
