A data record for each image you scan or capture appears in the ImageAXS collection. To acquire files from your imaging device again using the same setup options, begin with Step 10 above. ACQUIRING FROM A VIDEO SOURCE ImageAXS can make data records for video frames or movies as you capture them using a QuickTime capture interface. After you set up basic options for acquiring the files, select the Acquire QuickTime Frame or QuickTime Movie menu option, and ImageAXS will acquire the frames or movies as you capture them. To add digital video frame or movie files to a collection as you capture them: STEP 1 In the Source File menu, highlight Acquire, then select Set Up Input Device from the submenu that appears. The Set Up Input Device dialog box appears. QuickTime Frame panel, Set Up Input Device dialog box STEP 2 In the Acquire pop-up menu of the Set Up Input Device dialog box, select QuickTime Frame or QuickTime Movie (depending on which type of video file you want to acquire). Input Click the pop-up menu to display a list of choices (for example, Composite and S-Video). Format Click the pop-up menu to display a list of choices (for example, NTSC, PAL, and SECAM). Filter Select either TV, LaserDisc or VCR to reflect the source of the video frames or movies you will be capturing. Adjust the Compression settings for your video device. If the Compression panel of the dialog box is not displayed, click the pop-up menu in the upper left corner of the dialog box and select Compression from the list that appears. · · · STEP 5 IMAGEAXS 4. 0 MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 5-11 CREATING AND ADDING TO A COLLECTION 5 Compression panel, QuickTime Video settings dialog box The options in the Compression panel are as follows: · Compressor Click the pop-up menu to display a list of choices for compressing the video capture. Depth Click the pop-up menu to display a list of choices. (In most cases, the only choice is Color. ) Quality Click and drag the slider to the desired quality setting. (Some Compressor options, such as Component Video, may limit the slider to specific quality settings. ) Frames Per Second To choose how often the video preview window is updated, type a number (from 1 to 512) in the text entry box or click the pop-up menu to display a list of choices (select Best to determine a rate automatically based on your Macintosh video hardware and QuickTime system software). Key Frame Every __ Frames Select the checkbox and enter a number into the text entry box.
