[. . . ] To define file names, do the following: · · · Click 001<stem> or <stem>001 to determine whether the stem appears after or before the number. Type the stem in the Stem text entry box. Type the starting number in the Start At Number text entry box. Click OK to save your settings for this method of acquiring files. If you click Cancel, the Set Up Input Device dialog box closes without any changes to your previous settings. In the Source File menu, highlight Acquire, then select Sound Input from the submenu that appears. A dialog box interface for recording sound appears. STEP 5 STEP 6 STEP 7 NOTE If you select Sound Input from the Acquire submenu but have not defined the necessary settings for this method of acquiring files, the Set Up Input Device dialog box will appear instead (see Step 1). STEP 8 Click Record to begin capturing sounds. A data record for each sound file you capture appears in the ImageAXS Pro collection. To acquire files from your sound device again using the same setup options, begin with Step 7 above. ACQUIRING FROM ADOBE PHOTOSHOP If you have moved the IAXAcquire/Export plug-in from the folder in which you installed ImageAXS Pro into the Plug-ins folder for Adobe Photoshop (see "Installing Plug-ins" on page 2-4), you can launch ImageAXS Pro and acquire image files while using Adobe Photoshop or a compatible program. IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 6-15 ADDING YOUR FILES TO A COLLECTION 6 To add files to a collection while using Adobe Photoshop or another program that uses Photoshop plug-ins: STEP 1 Save the file in Adobe Photoshop (or the compatible program that you are using). ImageAXS Pro cannot acquire files that have not been saved. If a data record for the file already exists in ImageAXS Pro, save the file to a different location or with a different name to create a new data record for the revised file. STEP 2 In the File menu of Adobe Photoshop, highlight Acquire and select ImageAXS Pro from the submenu that appears. Open the ImageAXS Pro collection into which you want to acquire the Photoshop image file(s). In the File menu of Adobe Photoshop, highlight Export and select ImageAXS Pro Export from the submenu that appears. A data record for the Adobe Photoshop image file is added to the active ImageAXS Pro collection. If a data record for the file already exists, the thumbnail image and source file information are updated to reflect any modifications you have made. STEP 3 STEP 4 CHANGING OPTIONS FOR ACQUIRING FILES Use the Source Files panel of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box to change options for acquiring source files, especially to filter out unwanted files when acquiring all files in a folder or on a disk or other removable media. To change preferences for acquiring source files: STEP 1 STEP 2 Select Preferences (z-Shift-P) from the Edit menu. Click the Source Files tab on the left side of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box. The Source Files panel of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box appears. (If the Source Files tab is pulled out past the others and the name is in boldface type, it is already selected. ) IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 6-16 ADDING YOUR FILES TO A COLLECTION 6 Source Files panel, ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box In the Source Files panel of the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box, change acquiring options as follows: · To make data records only for image, movie/animation, sound, and 3D files, click to put a check mark in the Acquire Only Multimedia Files checkbox. Leave this checkbox empty to acquire source files of all types. To acquire invisible files, click to put a check mark in the Acquire Invisible Files checkbox. Leave this checkbox empty to filter out invisible files. [. . . ] (Large files may take more time to open as a slide. ) To choose if a slide show loops continuously: · In the box labeled Change Slides, click the Continuous Loop checkbox to keep the slide show going until you press the ESC key. SCREEN DISPLAY OPTIONS To choose how much of the screen a slide show uses, do one of the following: · · In the box labeled Display Slides, click In a Window to show images in a window that can be closed or collapsed. Click Use Full Screen to show images with the rest of the monitor display blacked out. To display a slide show on one or more monitors: · In the box labeled Display Slides, click to put a check mark in the Use All Available Monitors checkbox. Each slide will cycle through each of your connected monitors before it disappears. IMAGEAXS PRO MACINTOSH USER'S GUIDE 16-3 SLIDE SHOWS 16 To choose if a slide show uses captions: · In the box labeled Display Slides, click to put a check mark in the Show Captions checkbox. The caption for each image will be the same as the label shown for the record in the Thumbnails View. DISPLAYING SMALL IMAGES To choose how small images are displayed, do one of the following: · In the box labeled Small Images, click either the Actual Size radio button or the Scale Up radio button to determine the display size to use in the slide show. DISPLAYING ERROR MESSAGES To choose how error messages are displayed: · In the box labeled Show Errors, click one of the radio buttons to define whether and how to show error messages in the slide show. Errors in slide shows occur when a selected image is offline (in other words, ImageAXS Pro can't find the source file). The options are as follows: · Never Offline images are left out of the slide show, with no indication that an error has occurred. · In a Dialog Box Before the slide show starts, a dialog box appears listing any offline images. · As a Slide In the place of an offline image, a blank slide with the legend "This image is offline" appears during the slide show. Click OK to close the ImageAXS Pro Preferences dialog box when you are finished making changes.
