Use 1. Make sure that the baking plates are clean. If necessary, wipe them clean with a clean, damp cloth. At the first use, smear in the baking plates with a little vegetable oil, butter or margarine. The orange light will go on and the appliance will start to heat up immediately. Let the sandwich maker heat up until the green light goes on. At that point, the appliance has reached the right temperature. Open the lid and place the sandwich on the bottom plate. TIP: To obtain a golden brown colour, you can smear some butter on the outside of the sandwich. Be careful, as there may escape steam from the sides of the sandwich maker. [. . . ] Never immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid. Always unplug the appliance and let the appliance cool down before cleaning it.
