Set PictureMate Preferences
You can change these settings (preferences) on PictureMate:
Turn Print Confirmation Off or On (below) Turn the PictureMate Print Wizard Off or On (page 41) Adjust the LCD Screen Contrast (page 42)
When Print Confirmation is Off, PictureMate does not display this screen before printing. You need to press Print just once to start printing.

Turn Print Confirmation Off or On
When Print Confirmation is On and you press Print, you see a screen that lets you confirm your selected photos, the number of copies, and layout.

Turn the PictureMate Print Wizard Off or On
When you first insert a memory card, the PictureMate Print Wizard guides you to print a proof sheet, then to print some or all of your photos.

You may turn the PictureMate Print Wizard off and print directly from the Main Menu all the time, or you can turn it back on.
Tip: If you usually print all the photos on your memory card, turn off the PictureMate Print Wizard. Then whenever you insert your memory card, you can press Print to get one borderless, 4 × 6-inch print of each photo on the card.

Reset the Default Preferences
You can reset the PictureMate preferences (Print Wizard, Print Confirmation and LCD settings) to the original, default settings. You see this screen:
Press OK to reset all the print settings.
Note: This will also reset the defaults for other print settings you have changed (such as the date or time stamp or crop settings).

Clean the Print Head
If your print quality is not as good as it used to be, if your photos are light or faint, or you are missing colors in your prints, your print head nozzles may be clogged.

When you see this message, press OK to begin cleaning the print head.

If there are gaps, press OK to clean the print head again. If there are no gaps, press Cancel to go back to the Main Menu.
Align the Print Head
If you have moved PictureMate and print quality is not as good as it was before--for example, you see misaligned vertical lines or light or dark horizontal banding--you may need to align the print head.
Cleaning takes several seconds, during which the message Cleaning print head. appears on the screen.

When cleaning is complete, you see a message asking if you want to print a nozzle check pattern. If you want to check to see if the nozzles are clean, load a sheet of photo paper, then press OK to print the nozzle check. If you don't want to print a nozzle check, press Cancel to go back to the Main Menu.

Check the pattern to see if there are any gaps in the lines.

PictureMate Error Messages
If your PictureMate has any problems, you can check the screen for a message. If you see one of these messages, here's what to do:
Message What to Do Purchase a PictureMate Print Pack and replace the photo cartridge with a new one. If the cartridge is new, check to make sure it is inserted correctly. Load or remove and reload paper in the paper support, and press the OK button to clear this message. Carefully pull out the jammed paper, then reload paper and try printing again. (Do not reload paper that is wrinkled. ) See page 49 if your PictureMate jams frequently. The cartridge door is not closed completely. Close the cartridge door on the back of the printer. Make sure both ends of the door click in and close.
