Removing the Document Mat and Film Holder
1. Open the document cover and remove the document mat.
c Caution:
Make sure you handle film or negative strips by the edges or wear gloves. Touching the film surface with bare hands can leave fingerprints or other marks on the film.

If you have stored the film holder in the document cover, remove it as shown.
3.
Place your film in the holder as described on the following pages.

Placing 35-mm Slides in the Holder
1. Fit the holder's tabs into the two small holes at the rear edge of the document table. Make sure the cutouts for 35-mm slides are in the upper-left corner of the document table (not at the rear edge) to align them with the transparency unit window when you close the cover.

Open the film strip cover.
2.
Slide your negative or positive film strip into the holder, under the tabs.

Place your slides in the film holder as shown and make sure there is no gap between the slides and the document table.

The photos should be the right way up when viewed from overhead. (The shinier side faces up; the duller side faces down. )
3. Fit the holder's tabs into the two small holes at the left edge of the document table. Make sure the film strip is in the middle of the document table (not at the rear edge) to align it with the transparency unit window when you close the cover.

Note:
The photos should be the right way up when viewed from overhead. (The shinier side faces up; the duller side faces down. ) Make sure you do not press too hard on the document table. Make sure there is no gap between the holder and the document table, otherwise the photos may not be clear.

Close the document cover completely.

Printing Snapshots
Once you have placed your slides, negatives, or film strips on the scanner as described above, you can scan and print quick snapshots. Load one or more sheets of suitable paper; & page 4. Press the Film/Photo Mode button.
Use the l or r buttons to view the types of documents you can copy.
Setting Description Copy a color negative (used in most cases).
Continue with the steps in the next section to scan and print your photos.
Copy a positive color film.
Copy a slide.
Copy a black-and-white negative.
Tip:
If your documents are faded you can bring them back to life with color restoration; & page 8.
Press the x Start button to choose your document type. The document is scanned and a preview of the photo appears on the LCD screen. Use the l or r buttons to view the photos. Use the u or d buttons to set the number of copies. On the control panel, select the paper type and the paper size that you loaded. Your document is copied.

Checking the Ink Supply
To check your ink supply, do the following: 1. Use the l or r button to select the check ink supply icon, as shown below.
Replacing Ink Cartridges
When an ink cartridge is low, you see this icon in the upper-left corner of the LCD screen. 3.
Ink low
Press the x Start button. You see a graphic showing the amount of ink available in each cartridge:
When printing or copying, a bar showing which ink cartridge is low appears next to the Ink Low icon. When you are done checking the ink levels, press the x Start button.
