[. . . ] · Keep the buckle release button pointing up and away from the safety seat, with the tongue between the child seat and the release button, to prevent accidental unbuckling. · Place seat back in upright position. · Put the safety belt in the automatic locking mode. · LATCH lower anchors are recommended for use by children up to 48 lb (22 kg) in a child restraint. Top tether anchors can be used for children up to 60 lb (27 kg) in a child restraint, and to provide upper torso restraint for children up to 80 lb (36 kg) using an upper torso harness and a belt-positioning booster. Ford Motor Company recommends the use of a child safety seat having a top tether strap. Install the child safety seat in a seating position with LATCH and tether anchors. For more information on top tether straps 127 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Seating and Safety Restraints and anchors, refer to Attaching safety seats with tether straps in this chapter. For more information of LATCH anchors refer to Attaching safety seats with LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) attachments in this chapter. Carefully follow all of the manufacturer's instructions included with the safety seat you put in your vehicle. If you do not install and use the safety seat properly, the child may be injured in a sudden stop or collision. Rear-facing child seats or infant carriers should never be placed in front of an active passenger airbag. Installing child safety seats with combination lap and shoulder belts Airbags can kill or injure a child in a child seat. NEVER place a rear-facing child seat in front of an active airbag. If you must use a forward-facing child seat in the front seat, move the seat all the way back. Children 12 and under should be properly restrained in the rear seat whenever possible. 1. Position the child safety seat in a seat with a combination lap and shoulder belt. 128 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Seating and Safety Restraints 2. Pull down on the shoulder belt and then grasp the shoulder belt and lap belt together. 3. While holding the shoulder and lap belt portions together, route the tongue through the child seat according to the child seat manufacturer's instructions. Be sure the belt webbing is not twisted. 4. Insert the belt tongue into the proper buckle (the buckle closest to the direction the tongue is coming from) for that seating position until you hear a snap and feel the latch engage. Make sure the tongue is latched securely by pulling on it. 129 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Seating and Safety Restraints 5. To put the retractor in the automatic locking mode, grasp the shoulder portion of the belt and pull downward until all of the belt is pulled out and a click is heard. 6. [. . . ] The amount of transmission fluid and fluid level should be set by the indication on the dipstick's normal operating range. 244 4 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Maintenance and Specifications LUBRICANT SPECIFICATIONS Item Brake/clutch fluid Ford part name Motorcraft High Performance DOT 3 Motor Vehicle Brake Fluid Silicone Spray Lubricant Multi-Purpose Grease Ford part number PM-1 or PM-1-C Ford specification ESA-M6C25-A or WSS-M6C62-A Door weatherstrips Door latch, hood latch, auxiliary hood latch, door hinges, striker plates, seat tracks and fuel filler door hinge Engine coolant Motorcraft Premium Gold Engine Coolant (yellow-colored) Cooling system Motorcraft stop leak pellets Cooling System Stop Leak Pellets Engine oil Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Premium Synthetic Blend Motor Oil (US) Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 Super Premium Motor Oil (Canada) XL-6 XG-4 or XL-5 ESR-M13P4-A ESB-M1C93B VC-7A (except WSS-M97B51A1 CA, OR and NM), VC-7-B (CA, OR and NM) VC-6 WSS-M99B37-B6 XO-5W20-QSP (US) CXO-5W20LSP12 (Canada) WSS-M2C930-A with API Certification Mark 245 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Maintenance and Specifications Item Lock cylinders Ford part name Motorcraft Penetrating and Lock Lubricant Motorcraft MERCON ATF Motorcraft 75W-90 gear oil (non-synthetic) Motorcraft FNR5 Automatic Transmission Fluid Motorcraft Premium Automatic Transmission Fluid Premium Windshield Washer Concentrate Ford part number XL-1 Ford specification none Power steering fluid Manual transaxle fluid Automatic transaxle fluid 5-Speed XT-2-QDX F32Z-19C547-MA MERCON WSS-M2C203-A1 XT-9-QMM5 MAZDA V (S) Automatic transaxle fluid 6-Speed XT-8-QAW WSS-M2C924-A Windshield washer fluid ZC-32-A WSB-M8B16A2 ENGINE DATA Engine Cubic inches Required fuel Firing order Ignition system Spark plug gap Compression ratio 246 2. 3L I4 engine 140 87 octane 1-3-4-2 Coil on plug 0. 0490. 053 inch (1. 251. 35 mm) 9. 7:1 3. 0L DOHC V6 Duratec engine 182 87 octane 1-4-2-5-3-6 Coil on plug 0. 0520. 056 inch (1. 321. 42 mm) 10. 0:1 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Maintenance and Specifications VEHICLE DIMENSIONS Vehicle dimensions (1) Overall length (2) Overall width (3) Overall height (4) Wheelbase (5) Track - Front (5) Track - Rear Inches (mm) 191. 4 (4832) 72. 2 (1835) 55. 8 (1417) 107. 4 (2727) 61. 6 (1565) 61. 3 (1558) 3 5 2 247 2006 Fusion (fsn) Owners Guide (post-2002-fmt) USA (fus) Maintenance and Specifications 4 1 IDENTIFYING YOUR VEHICLE Safety Compliance Certification Label The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Regulations require that a Safety Compliance Certification Label be affixed to a vehicle and prescribe where the Safety Compliance Certification Label may be located.
