We strongly encourage you to take the time to read this file in order to benefit from changes made after the manuals went to print. To view this file, double-click on it in the Classic Games Galore directory found on your hard drive (usually C:\Program Files\Atari\Classic Games Galore). [. . . ] They are: · The opponent's hand · The dealer's hand · The Crib m C R I B B AG E STARTING THE GAME After both players have discarded to the Crib, the game begins. The computer turns the top card from the deck face up to start play. This card is called the "Start. " It is not used in the play. It is, however, counted with each hand and the Crib after play is completed. If the Start is a Jack, the dealer pegs two holes on the board for "Nobs. " PLAYING THE HANDS The non-dealer plays any card from his/her hand face up in the play area. The dealer then responds with a card from his/her hand. Playing alternates until the sum of the cards played is 31, or until neither player can play without exceeding 31. When a player is unable to play a card without putting the total over 31, he/she must announce "Go. " The other player then pegs one for the "Go" and continues playing until he/she reaches 31 (for a score of two points) or until he/she cannot play a card without putting the total over 31. All cards are then cleared from the play area and the count begins again with both players playing out their hands without going over 31. Play continues this way until both players have exhausted their hands. The "last card" played scores one point. Exception: If the "last card" makes 31, only two points are pegged. There is no "last" in this case. OBJECT Cribbage is a two-player game where the object is to score points by counting combinations of cards during different stages of the game. Cribbage is played with a standard 52card deck, with cards ranking from the King (high) to the Ace (low). The face cards have a value of ten, the Ace has a value of one, and the other cards are tallied according to their number.
