with nRouteTM Navigation Software setup guide
This setup guide includes instructions to connect your GPS 18 to your computer,  install software on your computer,  and unlock the detailed maps.  [. . . ] Connect the 12-Volt adapter to your vehicle's 12-Volt receptacle. After properly mounting the GPS 18,  routing the cable to your computer,  and installing nRoute software,  insert the DB-9 connector into an available DB-9 (9-pin) serial port on your computer. Tighten the knobs on the serial connector to secure GPS 18 PC (DB-9 the GPS 18 to your computer. Insert the end of the GPS 18 USB cable into an available USB port on your computer. 

2. Once the GPS 18 USB is connected,  Windows should automatically locate and install the drivers. If Windows is unable to locate and install the drivers,  select your DVD-ROM drive from the "Add New Hardware" Wizard dialog box (Example: "E:").

Step 3: Install Detailed Maps

Click Install Detailed Maps and follow the instructions on your computer screen.
