Changes or modifications to this equipment may cause harmful interference unless the modifications are expressly approved in the instruction manual. The user could lose the authority to operate this equipment if an unauthorized change or modification is made. [. . . ] Eight (8) playback Unlock: If you select Unlock, Parental Control is not active. Ratings 1 to 8: Some discs contain scenes not suitable for children. If you set a rating for the DVD+VCR, all disc scenes with the same rating or lower will be played. Higher rated scenes will not be played unless an alternate scene is available on the disc. The alternate must have the same rating or a lower one. If no suitable alternate scene is available, playback will stop. You must enter the 4-digit password or change the rating level in order to play the disc. If you forget your 4-digit password If you forget your password, you can clear the current password by following the procedure below. 1 Press SETUP to display the Setup menu. 2 Enter the 6-digit number 210499 and then press ENTER. The 4-digit password is cleared. 5 Press ENTER to confirm your rating selection, then press SETUP to exit the menu. 3 Enter a new password as shown under "Rating" at left. 21 PREPARATION Enter the code of the country whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, referring to the "Country Code List" on page 39. VCR Operation Normal Playback Preparation: Turn on the TV. Tune the TV to the DVD+VCR output channel (CH 3 or 4) or set the TV's source selector to VIDEO. If a direct VIDEO/AUDIO connection is made between the DVD+VCR and the TV, set the TV's source selector to VIDEO. Set the DVD+VCR source to VCR as shown in "Selecting the Viewing Source" on page 6. Search The Search function allows you to visually scan forward or backward during playback. 1 Press REW (. ) or FF (>) during playback to activate Search mode. If the DVD+VCR is left in Search mode for more than 3 minutes, the DVD+VCR will automatically enter Play mode to protect the tape and video heads. 2 To return to normal playback, press PLAY ( B). 1 Insert a prerecorded video cassette. The indicator will light and the DVD+VCR will power-up automatically. Make sure that the indicator in the display window is not lighted. If a tape without a record safety tab is inserted, the unit will start playback automatically. B) Still Picture and Frame-by-Frame Playback 1 Press PAUSE/STEP (X) during playback to pause the picture on the TV screen. If a still picture vibrates vertically, stabilize it using v/V on the remote control. If the DVD+VCR is left in Still mode for more than 5 minutes, the DVD+VCR will automatically enter Stop mode to protect the tape and video heads. 2 Press PAUSE/STEP (X) repeatedly to advance the Press PLAY ( 2 PLAY appears on once. the TV It is not necessary to select the tape speed for playback.
