Using the answering machine
Switching the answering machine on and off You must have recorded at least one text (announcement or info text).

1 Press »M« to open the menu. 2 Select the »Answ. Mach. TAD« menu item by « and » « and select »ON« to pressing » activate it. The answering machine is ready for operation. Note: To switch it off, repeat the process and select »OFF« to deactivate it. If you have not yet recorded an announcement, press »NEW« and perform the settings as described in the "Recording texts" chapter on page 28.

Remote advance query
Note The remote query must have been activated, see the "Answering machine settings" chapter on page 30. Using the remote advance query function you can quickly check at no cost whether there are new messages on your answering machine. If there are new messages, the answering machine responds after a maximum of 5 rings. If there are no new messages, the answering machine only responds after 8 rings, which means you can hang up after the 6th ring. For information on activating this function, see the "Settings, active after" chapter on page 31.

You can query and operate the answering machine from an external telephone connection. If the answering machine is switched off and the remote query function activated, the (external) call is taken after 90 seconds. Now you can switch on the answering machine, after entering the pin, using a remote command. 2 Enter the four-digit PIN using »1. . . 0« during the announcement.
