To take advantage of the Ultra ATA/66 transfer rate offered by the Deskstar 22GXP and 25GP, you will need to purchase an Ultra ATA/66 controller card (host adapter). You will need to install the controller in one of the empty slots in your computer. If data must be removed from the drive, there are two utilities available from the Hard Disk Drive Technical Support Center Web site at: www. ibm. com/harddrive ZAP Zap is a utility that will overwrite the first 128 sectors of your hard drive with zeros. WIPE Wipe will write zeros to every sector on your hard drive up to 8GB. These utilities should be sufficient to return your drive to factory shipped condition. Drive copy If you are replacing an existing hard drive with the Deskstar drive, you may want to copy all your files from the existing drive to the Deskstar. There are several software programs available that copy one drive to another.
