Power Supply Attachment Section (Behind the cover) Attach a battery or alkaline batteries here ("Camcorder Batteries", P. 15, 16). DC IN Jack (Behind the jack cover) When using the AC adapter/charger, connect one end of the DC cord (provided) to this jack and the other end to the DC OUTPUT jack of the AC adapter/charger. When using the car battery cord (optional), connect this jack and the DC OUTPUT jack of the car battery cord. Start/Stop Button When the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch is in CAM press this button to start recording. When pressed a second time the camera pauses. During playback use this button to stop the tape temporarily. Pressing a second time resumes normal playback. Basic Techniques Right side/Jack covers/Underside Illustration - 21 - 22. AV IN/OUT Jack (Behind the jack cover) Use this jack to connect the camcorder to a VCR or television ("Connecting to a Television without Audio In and Video In Jacks", P. 28). AV OUTPUT Jacks (Behind the jack cover) Use this jack to connect the camcorder to a VCR or television ("Playing Back Your Recording", p. 26, 27, "Dubbing from the Camcorder to a VCR", p. 38, "Recording Television Programs", p. 39). Connect the free square plug to the AUDIO OUT and VIDEO OUT jacks of the camcorder. Insert a previously recorded cassette into the camcorder. Turn on your VCR and place it in the camcorder input mode (consult your VCR manual for details). Operate the television as you normally do to see the signal coming from the VCR. Hold down the red button on the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch while sliding the switch to VIDEO. Press the PLAY button to begin playback. Press the STOP button when finished. Connecting to a Television with Audio In and Video In Jacks 1. Connect the provided audio/video output cable to the AUDIO IN and VIDEO IN jacks of your television. Note: If your television has two (stereo) AUDIO IN and VIDEO IN jacks, connect the audio plug to the leftchannel AUDIO IN jack. Connect the free square plug to the AUDIO OUT and VIDEO OUT jacks of the camcorder. Insert a recorded cassette into the camcorder. NO OPERATION IS ACCEPTED Symptom Check Point & Correction General Maintenance Power is turned on, but no button operations are accepted The camcorder does not operate when alkaline batteries are inserted - 45 § Remove the power source and the date/title battery. And, after about one minute, the display in the viewfinder will be reset. § Check that the polarities (+, -) of the batteries are correct. Insert six batteries.
