Display in Viewfinder or on LCD Monitor
When you are using the camcorder, the selected functions and time counter will appear in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor. If the characters and icons displayed during recording and playback bother you, press the DATE/DISP. Example of display during recording
· Even if the shutter speed (AE:250, etc. ), "ZOOM", image stabilizer icon, etc. are being displayed, only the title and date/time will be recorded on tape. Example of display during playback
· If the time counter, etc. is displayed during playback, it will also appear on the connected TV screen. If the tape is dubbed as is, the counter will also be recorded with dubbed image: Switch off the display to avoid this.

Getting Started CAM mode: Press the DATE/DISP. button on the camcorder to switch the display.
VIDEO mode: Press the DATE/ DISP. button on the camcorder or DISPLAY AY button on the remote control to switch the display.
· When a recorded tape is in the camcorder during the VIDEO mode, "SEARCH" appears in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor. (See "Date Search" on page 51. ) · See "Using Memory" on page 51. Note: The linear time counter with the memory feature and "SEARCH" in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor can also be displayed on the connected television. The iris adjusts automatically in response to the shutter speed.

Basic Techniques
1 Connect the camcorder to a power source (See pages p16 - p17). 2 Open the LCD monitor and insert a cassette ("Inserting and Removing Cassettes", p20). If you want to view the picture being recorded on the LCD monitor, leave the monitor open. If you want to view the picture in the viewfinder, close the LCD monitor. Note: Pull out the eye cup all the way when using the viewfinder. 3 Press the red button on the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch as you slide it to CAM. " appears in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor and the camcorder is now ready
4 When you are ready to record press the Start/ Stop button. "REC" appears and the camcorder records the picture you see in the viewfinder or on the LCD monitor.
5 To stop recording press the Start/Stop button and "REC" disappears from the viewfinder or LCD monitor replaced by " ". This places the camcorder in standby.
6 After recording, slide the CAM/OFF/VIDEO switch to OFF position to turn off the camcorder. Note: If the LCD monitor is opened or closed (the monitor picture is switched between the viewfinder and LCD monitor) during recording, the on-screen display will disappear for about one second. It is recommended that you do not switch the picture during recording as the date or title superimposed in the picture being recorded will disappear for about one second. [. . . ] Leave it in the camcorder.
Color of your TV screen is too bright, too faint or change. Date search function does not operate.
BATTERY CONDITION
Symptom The ( ) indication in the electronic viewfinder or on the LCD monitor flashes to indicate battery is discharged. The battery level indicator ( ) appears differently on the LCD monitor and in the viewfinder. Check Point & Correction · Try another battery or charge the battery.
· This does not indicate a fault; it is because the power consumed by the LCD monitor and the viewfinder is different.
NO OPERATION IS ACCEPTED
