Countdown display In order to better manage your time, this washing machine features an indicator light system that keeps you constantly informed on the remaining cycle time and the status of the Delay Start function. When Delay Start is selected the countdown display will indicate the time remaining before the programme starts and will then indicate the time remaining when the washing cycle has started. (for further details on the Delay Start function see page 18). The light on each option button will come on if that option has been selected. Delay Start This option is available to delay the start of the wash cycle by up to 9 hours. The selection of the time is completed by pressing the Delay Start button, the countdown display will indicate the time selected. When the correct delay is selected press the Start Pause button to start the cycle. Time Saver This option can be used on the Cottons and Synthetics programmes. By selecting the Time Saver option, the wash time can be reduced by up to 50 minutes, depending on the selected programme, temperature and load, without affecting the quality of the wash. Stain Blaster By pressing this button, which can only be activated in the Cotton cycles, the sensors in the new Activa system come into operation. They affect both the selected temperature, keeping it at a constant level throughout the wash cycle, and the mechanical function of the drum. The drum is made to turn at two different speeds at crucial moments. When the detergent enters the garments, the drum rotates in such a way that the detergent is distributed in a uniform manner. This helps limit vibration, reduce noise and improve the washing machine's reliability and life. 19 40002518. qxd 11/01/2005 18:15 Page 20 Programme Selector For handling the various types of fabric and their level of soiling in your laundry the washing machine has different programme groups according to type of wash, temperature, spin speeds and duration (see Programme Guide). Cottons The Cottons programmes are designed for maximum washing and rinsing. With spin cycles in between, they guarantee the laundry is rinsed perfectly. The final spin cycle ensures laundry is spun dry as much as possible up to the maximum speed. The 90°C programme includes a Prewash cycle. This option is particularly useful for heavily soiled loads and can be used independently of the main wash programme. Detergent for this programme should be added to the first compartment of the soap drawer labelled "I" (please refer to the section of this manual entitled "The Dispenser"). We recommend you use only 20% of the quantity used for the main wash programme. AA 40 This special programme has been created to allow you to obtain the best washing performance with a full load, as the 60°C Colourfast, but with the advantage of the cycle being at 40°C. This gives energy savings by reducing the temperature from 60°C to 40°C. The final spin speed is 1000rpm. Synthetics and mixed fabrics Washing and rinsing performance is optimised through drum rotation speeds and water levels. The delicate spin action minimises creasing. The 50°C programme includes a prewash cycle. [. . . ] Carrying out more rinse cycles does not serve any purpose in such cases. 29 40002518. qxd 11/01/2005 18:16 Page 30 Power Failure If there is a power failure the wash cycle will be interrupted, and the wash programme and functions will be suspended. When the power is restored, the wash programme and functions will re-start from the same point and complete the programme. During a power failure the water can be drained and the load can be removed from the machine as follows: 1. Switch off the machine both via the programme knob and the mains power supply. [. . . ]
