Login to Microsoft Windows as a user with administrator rights. Insert the Management CD into the CD-ROM drive. The CD has an autorun feature that displays the Insight Management Suite dialog box. NOTE: If this is your first time installing this version of the Management CD, you will first have to accept the License Agreement for the Management CD. 5. On the left frame of the browser screen, click Install Software. The Software On This CD window is displayed. The message reminds you to shut down all open applications. The Database Program Options dialog box is displayed. The Database Program Options dialog box briefly describes the differences between SQL and MSDE. MSDE 2000 will be installed locally with Windows authentication, using your currently logged in account as the database administrator. These settings will take affect after you reboot your server at which point the Insight Manager 7 installation will restart. You may cancel the install to change your MSDE credentials should you desire. -- If you have a database installed and available, click Next to continue. A series of splash screens display indicating services are being stopped. The following is a listing of typical services and HP agents that may or may not be running on your server: -- SNMP -- DMI Insight Web Management Agent -- DMI Indications -- Foundation Agents -- Version Control Repository Manager -- Survey Utility -- Availability Agents -- Version Control Agent NOTE: You may need to stop other agents installed on your system that are not distributed on the Management CD. NOTE: If the install is aborted at any time after services are stopped, all services that were stopped will remain stopped. A reboot of your system will restart all the necessary services if you do not want to restart all of the services manually. 11. When the services are stopped the Version Control Repository Manager dialog box may display. The Version Control Repository Manager dialog box is displayed with the option to install this software on this system. The Insight Manager 7 software can monitor software versions on managed systems and notify you when software is out of date.
