[. . . ] . 17 iPAQ h3900 series backup program The iPAQ Pocket PC h3900 Series offers a more advanced backup and restore program. With the iPAQ Backup application you can: · · · · back up and restore selected files, folders, and databases on your Pocket PC copy the entire Pocket PC system state (for example, the registry, user and system databases, and data files) back up and restore PIM data schedule regular backups manual backup To back up your iPAQ h3900 Series device, follow these steps: 1. (shown circled in previous image) Enter a name and saving location for the backup data, then tap OK. Note: On the iPAQ h3900 series device you can name your backup file to best fit the description of what you are backing up. From the main backup screen, tap Options. . . Select whether to: · compress or encrypt data · stop all processes before backing up · exclude files from the backup Note: Because some files are not backed up when they are in use, HP recommends selecting the Stop Processes Before Backup option to ensure that all information is saved. 7. 9. Tap OK after you have selected the options. When the backup is complete, the following pop-up window displays. 11. When you schedule a backup, a pop-up reminder displays on the iPAQ screen. This feature is very useful in making sure routine backups are performed. The following steps are necessary to schedule a backup: 1. Follow steps 1 through 6 in the previous "Manual Backup" section to access the Backup options screen. 2. Check the Enable Scheduled Start Up check box, and select the frequency, the time, and date for the backup. Click OK restore CAUTION: To ensure that all data integrity is maintained after the restore, the ActiveSync partnership between iPAQ device and the host PC should be deleted from the host PC and then recreated before synchronizing. To perform a restore on your iPAQ Pocket PC h3900 Series, close all open applications and follow these steps: 1. The data is still present, but it will not be restored automatically. After a total loss of power or a full reset, you can restore you Contacts and Calendar data by following these steps: 1. [. . . ]
