Cleaning the toner cartridge area
1 Cleaning the toner cartridge area is not necessary on a regular basis. Before cleaning, look for excessive toner in the compartment. Before cleaning the printer, turn the printer off by unplugging the power cord, and then wait for the printer to cool. 1 2 Turn the printer off by unplugging it, and then wait for the printer to cool. Cleaning the printer paper path
This process uses copier-grade paper to remove dust and toner from the paper path. Use this process if you are experiencing toner specks or dots on printouts. This process will produce a page with toner debris, which should be discarded. 1 2 3 Ensure the printer is loaded with paper. Ensure the printer is in the Ready state. [. . . ] The HP toner is depleted when faded or light type appears on the printed page. HP will, at HP's option, either replace products which prove to be defective or refund the purchase price. If possible, please attach a printout sample illustrating what the defective cartridge is printing. The warranty does not cover cartridges which have been refilled, are emptied, are abused, are misused, or are tampered with in any way. [. . . ]
