This automatically requires authentication for new solutions that may be installed on the MFP. You should choose a method for this option as a best practice for security even if you do not expect to add solutions to the MFPs. If your network includes LDAP, configure the LDAP Authentication options (Figure 43). Figure 43: The Accessing the LDAP Server options. HP LaserJet and Color LaserJet MFP Security Checklist 43 These settings enable the MFPs to require a user's NT logon credentials for use of the MFPs. This is related to the LDAP access options on the Digital Sending page, which enable the MFP to use the LDAP address book; however, the SSL certificate options for both configurations appear on the Digital Sending page. Note: These instructions assume that the LDAP server is configured for SSL. If you have this feature available, you should go to the Digital Send page (see the Digital Send section, above) to upload a certificate that was created by the LDAP server. If possible, you should choose Simple over SSL for the bind method and configure the LDAP server for communication over a secure SSL channel. This also requires that you generate SSL certificates and upload them to the MFPs using the LDAP Access options in the Digital Sending page (explained earlier). If you choose Simple for the bind method, usernames, email addresses, passwords, and other data will be sent over the LDAP protocol in clear text. 7. This option should be already configured. When you configured the EWS Password earlier in this process, each MFP should have automatically configured the device password to be the same as the EWS password. Configure the Device Password setting using the same password you used as the EWS password. This will ensure that both passwords are configured the same and that you are sure have the correct one. You can use a new password for this setting, but remember that the EWS password will be changed to match it. Tip: The Device password restricts access to the device settings of the MFP. It is the synchronized with the EWS password, but it functions in different situations. It requires all users to login before remotely changing device configuration settings. Thus, the same password is required for access to the MFP via Web Jetadmin, the EWS, or any other management software. Click to select the Control Panel Access (Figure 47), and click to select Maximum Lock. Figure 47: The Control Panel Access option. Maximum Lock ensures that no one can access configuration settings in the control panel. If you wish to make changes to settings in the control panel, unlock access using Web Jetadmin, make the changes, and then lock access again. The formatter accommodates the MFP hard drive, the Compact Flash cards, the Jetdirect card, the CPU, the analog fax accessory card, and the DC Controller, which is the power supply for the MFP.
