[. . . ] The master of the pool is the center point of contact for the entire pool. Server-1, Server-2, and Server-3 are stand-alone XenServers. Virtual Machine Management Pack 3. 5 communicates with the master to learn about the members of the pool and their configuration. To communicate with the HP integrated Citrix XenServer, Virtual Machine Management Pack 3. 5 requires credentials to establish a secured session with the HP integrated Citrix Xenserver. Virtual Machine Management Pack 3. 5 uses the WBEM credentials provided in HP SIM as the credentials to establish a secure session with the HP integrated Citrix XenServer. A virtual machine is known as a shared virtual machine when its image is located on shared storage. Virtual Machine Management Pack supports live migration of virtual machines in a resource pool. For more information about definition of homogenous XenServers, resource pools, and coping with machine failures, see XenServer Administrator's Guide 4. 1. 0.

Virtual Machine Host to Virtual Machine Association
The running virtual machines are associated with appropriate virtual machine host in the pool. · When a shared virtual machine in a resource pool is powered down, the virtual machine will be associated with the master of the pool. · When a virtual machine (not shared) running on the host in a resource pool is powered down, Virtual Machine Management Pack will try to associate the virtual machine with the appropriate host. · If the virtual machine cannot be associated with the appropriate host due to temporary communication failure in XML-RPC, the virtual machine will be associated with the master of the pool.
4
In any case, all these virtual machines are controllable from the Virtual Machine Host Page of the master virtual machine host. Note that the virtual machines on a stand-alone virtual machine host are associated with the same host.
5
Registering virtual machine hosts in Virtual Machine Management Pack
Registering stand-alone HP integrated Citrix XenServer
Pre-register considerations and steps Verify that WBEM credentials for the virtual machine host are provided in HP SIM. If they are not: - Go to Options Protocol settings System protocol settings. - In the WBEM settings section, enable the Update values for this protocol checkbox. - Select Use values specified below option box. - Enter the port # as 5989 or leave it blank. Registering virtual machine host · Perform the registration steps in the Register VM Host wizard. For more information, see the HP ProLiant Essentials Virtual Machine Management Pack - User Guide. Note: When HP integrated Citrix Xenservers registered in Virtual Machine Management Pack are moved from a stand-alone environment to a resource pool environment the XenEnterprise servers must be unregistered from Virtual Machine Management Pack and then re-registered.
6
Registering HP integrated Citrix XenServer part of a resource pool
Pre-register considerations and steps Verify that servers participating in a resource pool have a XenEnterprise license (required). If the host is not the master of the resource pool, verify that the master of the resource pool is registered with Virtual Machine Management Pack. · Verify that WBEM credentials for the virtual machine host are provided in HP SIM. [. . . ] Disks associated with the source virtual machine must be manually freed up if Virtual Machine move operation is performed. For more information, see the support information and documentation for HP integrated Citrix XenServer.
9
Migrating an independent virtual machine, hosted on a virtual machine host in the resource pool, to a shared virtual machine
This is depicted in Figure 2, item 2.
Pre-move considerations and steps
· Verify that the default storage repository of the resource-pool is configured to the shared storage. The shared storage must be visible to all the members of the pool. · Verify that the independent virtual machine is in halted state. [. . . ]
