In this case, however, you must first get the FC storage to the FC4­16IP; the FC storage as virtual target is then allowed access to iSCSI initiators. When the FC4­16IP is configured, each iSCSI port has one FC virtual initiator exposed. FC virtual initiators are in fact the iSCSI virtual initiators. Since HP Fibre Channel storage arrays use access control (selective presentations), iSCSI virtual initiators are treated as FC hosts in every FC storage and are allowed access by selectively presenting the LUNs to those virtual initiators. Depending on the storage array, LUNs must now be created and presented to the iSCSI virtual initiators. This document describes how to serve storage from each supported storage array (MSA, EVA, and XP) to the FC4­16IP. Application Notes for the HP StorageWorks B-series iSCSI Director Blade (FC4­16IP) 5 This document assumes the reader to be experienced in the initial setup of storage arrays and in the creation of storage volumes or LUNs. If you lack this experience, you should review the configuration, user, and reference documentation for your storage array. NOTE: The iscsiCfg --easycreate tgt --s command in FC4­16IP lists all configured iSCSI virtual initiators. These virtual initiators are considered FC hosts in HP Fibre Channel storage. Presenting MSA 1500 LUNs to the FC4­16IP MSA storage volumes must be configured before LUNs can be detected and recognized by the FC4­16IP. The MSA can be configured either through its serial port or through the Array Configuration Utility. Whatever method is used, you must also use the MSA selective storage presentation (SSP) commands to restrict access to volumes that are to be served to the FC4­16IP. The following basic configuration tasks are listed in sequence (they are specified in detail in the HP Array Configuration Utility User Guide and the Configuring Arrays on HP Smart Array Controllers -- Reference Guide): · Creating the arrays (LUNs). · Entering controller settings, such as setting the read/write cache ratio, setting the rebuild/expand priority, and setting the redundancy level. · Identifying the operating system type (also called host mode, access mode, profile, and connection profile); select the iSCSI virtual initiator operating system type as Linux. · Verifying that the FC4­16IP iSCSI virtual initiator with access to the MSA is visible to the MSA. · Entering selective storage presentation options (also called access control lists) to protect the storage from unauthorized access. Settings indicate which LUNs the iSCSI virtual initiator can access. Presenting EVA 3000/5000 and EVA 4000/6000/8000 LUNs to the FC4­16IP Virtual disks are set up and presented to the host server to test connectivity and to begin using the disks.
